HAZMAT EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICE

The volume of hazardous material transported on South African roads is increasing daily. With this comes the
increased risk of accidental spillage and contamination of the environment. Authorities have addressed this situation
by implementing new and stricter legislation in terms of the National Road Traffic Act 93/1996.

One aspect of this legislation dictates that any Company transporting potentially hazardous material must be adequately insured to cover civil liability, recovery and rehabilitation of the environment. To minimize this risk and reduce possible losses the carrier must have the support of an organization which works in close co-operation with the local police and emergency services.

To this end, Skipwaste has developed a specialized HAZMAT Division, which ensures that any accidental spill is dealt with immediately, professionally and in accordance with all relevant legislative guidelines and requirements.

This division is equipped with state of the art equipment as well as highly trained and qualified HAZMAT personnel to ensure safe containment, thorough clean-up and safe disposal of any hazardous material, especially in the event of an emergency situation
